Fender 1966 Custom Telecaster

Original 1960s Custom Telecasters have all but vanished from the market worldwide - what you find today is mostly vintage-style reissues or replicas. Genuine originals of this caliber are exceptionally hard to come by, and if you want the real thing with real history behind it, rather than a collector's shelf piece, this is a guitar you can proudly plug in and play on stage.

Built while Leo Fender himself was still with the company, this Custom Telecaster retains true pre-CBS specs: the transition logo, thicker headstock, round-laminate rosewood fingerboard, 3-ply pickguard, spiral saddles, and the rich resonance of nitrocellulose lacquer all attest to its authenticity.

The binding shows some lifting and the body carries honest battle scars from decades of use - and that's exactly what gives this guitar its character. The tone has that fully dried-out quality: it retains the core Telecaster twang while adding a warm midrange, and it holds its center even when pushed into overdrive.

Frets and nut have already been replaced in-house, so it's ready to play right out of the case. Genuine 1960s Custom Telecasters were never produced in large numbers to begin with, and examples that have also been set up to play well are rarer still - a chance worth taking if you want to experience real vintage tone on stage.
