Vintage Universal Audio / UREI 1109 - Discrete Microphone Preamps (X11) 1970’s Classics! (1108)

Selling an extremely rare rack of :

(11) - 1970’s Universal Audio / UREI 1109 Discrete Preamps In a custom 2RU rack. These are classic vintage tone monsters! (EVH had multiple racks of these) These should be cherished, preserved & most of all used! I have to many projects going so I’m letting these birdies fly away. A perfect project for anyone semi tech savvy or with a tech who has time.

These preamp modules can run on either +24V or +/-15V. Add some pots on a panel, switches, and the preamps can be wired direct off the preexisting edge connector/rack. You could use (2) modules as line outputs and make a badass 8x2 mixer with (1) spare module. You can see someone simply cut off the XLR’s that were wired to the patch bay and pulled it from the studio.

• Input Transformer: Shares the exact same input transformer design as the classic UREI LA-3A leveling amplifier. [1]
• Output Transformer: Uses the B11148 output transformer (also common to LA-3A and later 1176LN revisions like F and G)
  
  They just don’t make stuff like these anymore. Very rare to find a full rack of these vintage UA modules. Feel free to reach out with any questions. The last photo is of a custom UA console that was built by Bill Putnam as a sidecar that I owned. It had a rack of these 1109 modules in it!
