This is an early CAPI VP28 with the original faceplate and knobs. The faceplate has "relic'd" itself over time which is why he uses different ones now, I believe he'll send you an updated faceplate and knobs for free if you don't like the look. I LOVE these on top and bottom snare, piano room, amps, really anything. It's fully functional and sounds fantastic. It's been in the same rack its whole life.
