ART Tube PAC Preamp/Compressor Recapped and Modified
These solid analog units are getting old, but they are a great sounding combination of circuits in one small package – So I have given this one a new and improved life by refurbishing and upgrading it.
This is a microphone preamp and an optical compressor in one unit. 

I purchased three different preamps/channel strips for my vocalist to audition, he chose a different one that was rack mountable so here's your chance to get this upgraded desktop unit at a great price!

What I've done:

Replace all electrolytic capacitors with Panasonic FC series in the audio path and Nichicon for power.

Opamps have been upgraded to TLE2074AC and TLE2071AC dual channel to dual single channel opamp adapters. These are A-rated, extra low noise, high performance opamps. Modern versions of classic TL07X amps, still used to this day in many audio circuits. These upgraded amps are one piece of the component puzzle that bring the quality of the sound up – a tier above it's price tag. 

12AX7 Sovtek Tubes have been installed 

Removed noisy/buzzy internal power transformer and installed an upgraded external power transformer (line lump).

This removes the power transformer hum these have been known to have - Greatly reduced noise floor with this modification.

(AC to DC power transformer was upgraded – there are no audio transformers in this device.)
