Santo Serafin Labeled Baroque Violin 1734

A fine Baroque violin labeled:
Sanctus Seraphin
 Utinensis fecit
Venetijs fecit ann 1734

A lovely baroque violin suitable for historically informed performances and in need of a new set of strings. A lovely Seraphin copy possibly from Saxony turn of the century or early to mid 1800's from a workshop with highly skilled luthiers. The pattern follows closely the work of Seraphin from the time period labeled. A fine baroque violin that has seen some playing over it's history as it shows signs of repairs on the top all repairs are closed and well done and aren't open. No open cracks or seams.
The tone is warm and deep, rich and warm suitable for any professional or enthusiast/advancing player looking for a nice baroque instrument to play period accurate pieces. Set up with boxwood fittings. The top is a two pice slab of medium to fine grained spruce. The back is a one piece slab of faint medium flamed maple with timbers of similar figure for the ribs neck and delicately carved scroll.
The instrument has been re-set as a baroque violin as you can see the neck joint has been lowered to baroque standards as well as a baroque bridge has been fitted. The purffling is nicely done with all corners in tact.
The varnish is a lovely golden dark brownish-red with golden orange yellow undertone.
The instrument is in immediate playing condition about 150 years old.
