This was the industry standard tape machine in the late 1960’s and was used to make many records. I bought this machine in 2020 from a well respected recording engineer here in Portland. It was calibrated and serviced at that time. Sadly it has had only occasional use since then.
4 tracks on 1/2” tape, offering up all that elusive glue and warmth many of us pine for. This one is working great! The transport is incredibly robust and solid. Metering is working well but the needles can stick when pinned. Nothing that can’t be remedied with a tap of the finger on the VU.
It sounds incredible! The single most gratifying, ”sounds like a record” piece of kit I have had the pleasure of owning. This particular unit is equipped with Ampex 4580200-01 bridging transformers on each line amp but the sale will include 4 octal dummy plugs for a more transparent sound.
Cosmetically there a few small dings and dents, most notably on the very top. Nothing that affects the functionality.
The sale will include a MRL alignment tape, 1 x 1/2” ATR tape and a take up reel.

Please let me know if you have any questions, thank you.
