Beautiful and exceptionally cool 1964 Gretsch 6124 Single Anniversary, serial #73467, finished in the classic Shaded Golden Sunburst.
Introduced as part of Gretsch’s Anniversary series, the 6124 is the single-pickup version of the Anniversary and represents one of the coolest stripped-down Gretsch hollowbodies of the 1960s. With its single HiLo’Tron neck pickup, fully hollow maple body and wonderfully simple controls, it delivers a clear, woody and articulate vintage Gretsch sound with plenty of warmth, sparkle and character.
Even better, this example remains all original and includes its original hardshell case.

Condition
This guitar is in very good vintage condition for a 60+ year-old instrument and has the kind of honest cosmetic wear we love to see on an original vintage Gretsch.
The original finish shows scattered checking, small nicks, dings and normal handling/play wear, along with areas of finish wear from years of contact with the case, particularly around portions of the sides. There is also typical age-related checking visible around portions of the binding and finish. Please see the detailed photos.
Importantly, there are no major cracks or structural issues to note. (binding is showing signs of cracking and separating in areas)
The original frets show substantial wear and are approaching the end of their service life, although the guitar remains playable as it sits. Action is currently nice and low, and this is a genuinely enjoyable vintage guitar to play.
The hardware and plastics display the attractive natural aging expected of an original mid-’60s Gretsch, while the sunburst has retained a beautiful rich amber center transitioning into its dark outer edge.
Sound & Feel
The single HiLo’Tron is a huge part of this guitar’s personality. It’s lower-output and exceptionally articulate, producing a wonderfully open combination of sparkle, woody warmth, definition and vintage Gretsch jangle. Combined with the resonant hollow maple body, the 6124 has a lively acoustic quality even before it’s plugged in.
It’s an especially cool platform for rockabilly, early rock & roll, country, jazz, blues, roots and clean-to-edge-of-breakup playing.
This isn’t a museum piece that’s afraid to be played it’s an original, honest and great-playing vintage Gretsch with over six decades of character already built in.
All original. Original hardshell case included. Ready to play and enjoy.
