BOSS BE-5M Made in Japan

A very cool piece of classic BOSS gear: the BOSS BE-5M Programmable Multiple Effects, Made in Japan.

What makes the BE-5M particularly interesting is that BOSS essentially took the circuitry and design philosophy of its famous compact pedals of the era and brought several of them together into one unit.

The BE-5M features circuits based on:

• CS-3 Compressor/Sustainer
• OS-2 OverDrive/Distortion
• DD-3 Digital Delay
• NS-1 Noise Suppressor
• CE-2 Chorus Ensemble

The signal path also includes an effects loop between the OS-2 and DD-3 sections, making it possible to insert other pedals exactly where you want them.

This is a Made in Japan unit from the classic era of BOSS production that has nothing to do with the modern digital multi-effects units trying to emulate old pedals. The BE-5M uses period analog circuitry and components for its compressor, overdrive/distortion and chorus sections, including a genuine analog BBD chorus circuit. The delay section is digital, as was the DD-2/DD-3 technology of the period. This is real vintage hardware built around the kind of circuitry that made BOSS pedals legendary in the first place. The electronics are from an era when these circuits were built with conventional, serviceable components rather than today's highly integrated surface-mount/DSP approach. It's a fascinating piece of BOSS engineering and a very practical way of getting several classic BOSS voices in one box.

Condition: Good overall condition, with normal signs of use for its age. Please see photos carefully for the exact cosmetic condition. Functionally, everything works perfect.
