Up for sale is my highly collectible, first-generation Yamaha Dave Weckl Signature Maple Snare Drum (Model MSD14DW) from 1992. This is the legendary all-maple model in the beautiful transparent black/wood-tone gloss lacquer finish, handcrafted in Japan.
For the studio ace or the serious collector, this drum is famous for its extreme articulation, crisp ghost notes, and incredible tuning range.
Key Features:
Shell: Premium 7-ply 100% Maple shell with good, clean bearing edges.
Dual Strainer System: Features the unique, iconic dual-throw-off mechanism on opposite sides of the shell. It allows you to run two different types of snare wires simultaneously for unmatched tonal customization.
Hardware: Equipped with Yamaha’s signature small gold lugs and original aluminum power hoops.
Condition:This is an authentic, 34-year-old instrument in great "player's condition."
The maple shell is in good shape, the bearing edges are completely fine, and the dual strainers operate smoothly. Cosmetically, it shows honest signs of age and use, including some typical pitting/fading on the gold-plated lugs and hoops. It tunes up beautifully and sounds absolutely incredible.
