I am offering a Gibson Custom Shop Custom Select J-45 Standard Cobra Burst from 2026, a crafted in Bozeman, Montana (USA), all-solid timber limited edition acoustic guitars model featuring the legendary Slope Shoulder Dreadnought body style, resonant Sitka spruce top, back and sides made of warm-sounding mahogany, set mahogany neck with SlimTaper neck profile and 43.8mm TUSQ nut, elegant striped ebony fingerboard with shimmering mother-of-pearl dot inlays, Traditional Belly Up bridge made of striped ebony, high-quality gold Grover Rotomatic tuners, and L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system in a gorgeous Cobra Burst nitrocellulose high-gloss finish with tortoise pickguard and cream bindings in mint collector’s condition, complete with black Gibson deluxe hardshell case, manufacturer’s papers, and professional setup with 12-53 Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings.
Since its introduction in 1942, the Gibson J-45 has been considered the epitome of the American Slope Shoulder Dreadnought and fully deserves its nickname, “The Workhorse.” Hardly any other acoustic guitar model has had such a lasting impact on music history or found its way into the hands of countless musicians across folk, country, blues, and rock—from Bruce Springsteen to Zach Bryan to Bob Dylan.
This modern interpretation from the Gibson Custom Shop, released in 2026, features—like the original from the 1940s—a solid mahogany back and sides, as well as a solid Sitka spruce top, which is given ample room for resonance thanks to hand-scalloped X-bracing. As a Custom Select variant limited to just a few pieces, this particular guitar boasts some special specs: A distinctive dark, semi-transparent Cobra Burst high-gloss nitro finish bathes the grain of the tonewoods in a timelessly elegant appearance, and its thin application ensures the instrument’s excellent natural resonance. This complements the coveted striped ebony fingerboard (!)—complete with glossy mother-of-pearl dot inlays—as well as the reverse belly bridge, also made of striped ebony, and the gold hardware!
The fantastic woods and high-quality craftsmanship of the Gibson Bozeman Custom Shop enable a wonderfully warm and exceptionally powerful sound, in which the singing mids are particularly well showcased. The rounded body also ensures beautiful projection and a balanced, warm tone with a subtle yet dynamic range of timbres—ideal for any style of strumming and picking!
The factory-installed L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup system further enhances the clear, authentic acoustic sound.
Truly a great guitar that—typical of the Gibson Custom Shop in Montana—combines an outstanding balance of sound, playability, and aesthetics.
