Vintage Sonor D426 “King of Snares” — West German 14” Snare

This is a really beautiful vintage Sonor D426 “King of Snares” from the West German era.

These are some of the coolest snares Sonor ever made! It has the classic chrome finish, eight-lug configuration, internal muffler, and Sonor hardware.

The drum is in really nice vintage condition. The chrome looks fantastic overall, with some normal scratches, age-related wear and a little pitting here and there, but no major dents or damage that I can see. The shell is very clean and the hardware presents extremely well.

The drum is marked “Made in Western Germany.” I believe this is a 1960s/early-‘70s example, although I’m not claiming an exact production year without additional documentation.

The snare wires are currently attached with cord, as shown in the photos.

This is a killer vintage Sonor—equally cool as a collector’s piece or as a working snare. The D426 parallel strainer is a really unique piece of Sonor engineering, and these don’t come up nearly as often as the later Phonic snares.
