Hey, Scott from Birdsong Guitars here! Here's another one of my shortbasses I'm making these days in a hundred-year-old workshop up in the northern Adirondacks. These are REAL basses, just REALLY short! 25.5" scale "pocket basses" done RIGHT. They tune to standard, sound fantastic, and are so compact and easy to play with no reach and soft action. 30 years of short scale bass designing and building makes it possible.
This is the AMIGO model, lightweight and balanced - with two pickups and two volumes. Grover tuners, Hipshot bridge, D'Addario short scale roundwound strings.
This is #2602, named "Rocky." His body is redwood on Spanish cedar, woods that give warm tone but will ding if you bump it around. Hand rubbed oil satin finish. Neck is mahogany with a rosewood board. Headstock face is cherry and back cover is walnut.
This sounds SO good, you really have to hear it - and FEEL this one because it's alive in your hands - to believe it. Hey, look me or Birdsong up, my reputation stands on its own and chances are very good you'll fall in love with this little bass. I still own and manage Birdsong, but the production of them is in the hands of the Head Luthier now. These and making music are what I'm up to in recent years!
