The CS566 is a line-level channel strip (no mic preamp) built around four sections: independent input/output level trim (±12dB), a custom discrete-opamp VCA compressor modeled on classic ’70s/‘80s discrete VCA designs, HRK’s “Solid State Drive” console-emulator/saturation stage, a 4-band EQ (each band with two selectable frequencies), and an active output transformer stage that adds harmonic coloration and shapes the output frequency response like a classic passive transformer — without the hum/interference issues of a passive unit
