Fender / 1964 JAZZ BASS

A 1964 Jazz Bass in phenomenal condition!

The Fender Jazz Bass debuted in 1960. It has remained the standard for every bassist ever since, still played in essentially the same form more than 60 years after it was born.

This particular example dates from 1964 - often cited as the golden era of the Fender Jazz Bass, and frequently referenced by reissue models. It comes from the tail end of the pre-CBS period, when Fender was at its absolute peak and the pride and passion of its craftsmen were running highest.

The neck date reads "7JUN64A," confirming 1964. The pots are 1964 Stackpole units, and the ceramic disc capacitor is judged to be original as well. The pickups have grey-bobbin construction; the pickup date is no longer legible due to age, but they are judged to be original. The neck pickup has been rewound by our shop. Sunburst fading is minimal, with only a few small areas of finish flaking, keeping this example in beautifully clean condition. There is age-appropriate wear, but it comes with its valuable original hard case, and even retains its pickup cover and bridge cover.

Alder body and round-laminate rosewood fingerboard - the classic spec that defines "what a Jazz Bass is." After roughly 60 years, this is a special vintage bass that lets today's players feel the original vision of the Jazz Bass firsthand. The moment you pluck an open 4th string, you'll feel that fast, punchy low end that only a vintage bass can deliver.

This isn't just a collector's piece to admire from a distance. Our in-house repair technician has set it up with a 1.6mm action for stress-free playing. This is a truly special instrument radiating the presence of a "working instrument," ready right now to anchor the ultimate ensemble on stage or in the studio.
