Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a unique, quality Shure microphone that rarely comes around. This is the Shure Brothers 589S dynamic cardioid model microphones set at Low Z. These are quality, rugged mics that are lite weight and easy to hold for prolonged periods of time. The output is strong and very much a mid range sounding mic in nature. I believe it's set at 160 OHMS. Bright and not bass heavy like an SM-58. This mic comes with the Shure model mic clip that fits the mic perfectly and the period metal Shure mic case in which to store.

Pic # 2 shows the 589S data sheet along with all of it's technical characteristics. You can download this if you go to Shure's website along with many other microphones they have sold over the years.

This mic was only offered by Shure for a few short years around the late 1970's to early to mid 1980's. I don't really know the story behind this mic but it was one of the better models sold over the decades. The mic is unique looking to say the least. Not the most attractive design but again, a quality build that was built to last and it was made in America. This was the Unidyne C.

I very rarely have these to offer but this is the nicest example I have come across in some time now.

This mic could be used for broadcasting or singing as it was intended. It's appx 7 inches long X 1 1/2 wide at the tip. The on / off switch works great too.  As you can see in the pictures provided there are just lite signs of wear on the handle of the mic. The Shure logo that encircles the mic shows no wear at all and completely legible. No tarnish or dents on the front grill and I added a new interior foam pop filter for improved sound as the original was all but gone. This really helps with the acoustics of the mic and any mic of this age will have to have that done.

Overall I would rate this mic physically a 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10 in the cosmetic department though many would rate higher.

The mic comes with the original Shure Brothers mic clip that grip these mics firmly and it's in very nice condition. The clip provides a wide degree of tilt up and down and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

The metal Shure mic case is included and in fantastic shape. It's a very rugged design that will keep the mic safe from damage when not in actual use. As you can see there is virtually no physical wear on the painted exterior and the locking  latch works perfectly. I added two new foam pads as the originals were completely shot. These cases alone in excellent condition will fetch an easy $70.00 on a good day.

The mic takes a standard XLR cable though none is included. I did clean the XLR pins on the mic however as they were quite tarnished. This ensures a perfect signal once a cable is attached.

This will make a very special and rarer mic to use on the daily.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

As with all my vintage microphone and related items...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be immediately relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
