This pickup is a reproduction of the famous Peavey Super Ferrite pickup in a p-bass split coil configuration. If you're looking for a unique p option this is it.
The pickup itself has a DCR of 5.15 ohms, just like the original. It has a beefy high gauss ceramic magnet and fewer winds than your typical p coil. Despite the low DCR, it is a loud and aggressive pickup; very open sounding with tight lows and crisp highs with the midrange grind you'd expect from a P. It honestly reminded me of a ric bridge pickup in the bass I had, and it handles distortion and fuzz like a champ. I very much love the pickup but Im a dimarzio fan boy and went back to a model p.
A couple of things to note:
- the pickup has been heavily gigged with, but despite that is in aesthetically great shape.
- One of the covers may need some super glue if you're using springs or tubing to raise the pickup
- the pickup does not come with pickup scews, though any normal p-bass pickup screw will work
- Shipping is free; I use UPS so no PO boxes please!
