I am offering a Mesa Boogie Mark V Combo from 2011, a handcrafted in Petaluma, California (USA), tube combo amp featuring powerful, hot switchable 10/45/90-watt all-tube output power as Class A or A/B, three-channel design with nine different sound modes (Channel 1: Clean / Fat / Tweed; Channel 2: Edge / Crunch / Mark I; Channel 3: Mark IIC / Mark IV / Extreme), individual tone control for each channel, 5-band EQ switchable via footswitch, FX loop, built-in spring reverb, as well as 1x12" Celestion Black Shadow MC-90 speaker in black Tolex finish, in excellent condition, including Mesa Boogie dust cover and footswitch.

The Mesa Boogie Mark V ranks among the most versatile and sophisticated tube amplifiers from the elite American boutique amp manufacturer, combining several decades of the legendary Mark Series into a single amplifier. From crystal-clear American clean tones to organic vintage crunch and the characteristic, extremely defined high-gain sound of the Mark Series, the Mark V covers an exceptionally wide tonal spectrum. The amplifier was built at Mesa Boogie’s factory in Petaluma, California, and combines the traditional circuit designs of the historic Mark amps with flexibility engineered for professional studio and live performance applications.

At its heart is a three-channel design with a total of nine different voicings. Channel 1 offers three distinct starting points—Clean, Fat, and Tweed—for clear and slightly distorted sounds. While Clean delivers an open, brilliant basic character, Fat produces a fuller and warmer tone, and Tweed evokes earlier, rougher American amp sounds with particularly dynamic breakup. Channel 2 ranges from biting overdrive to classic rock crunch to the powerful, singing character of the original Mesa Boogie Mark I, with Edge, Crunch, and Mark I modes.
Finally, Channel 3 is dedicated to the most famous high-gain sounds in Mark history. The Mark IIC+ mode is modeled after the now-legendary Mark IIC+, whose extremely tight response and focused lead tone have shaped countless rock and metal productions. The Mark IV mode delivers a slightly more modern, compressed character with enormous sustain, while Extreme provides maximum dynamics, attack, and cut-through. Especially when combined with the 5-band graphic EQ, the characteristic Mark Series sound can be shaped with extreme precision.

A unique feature of the Mark V is its switchable 10/45/90-watt power section. This allows the power amp’s behavior to be adapted much more precisely to the specific application than with a classic single-channel tube amplifier. From comparatively low power for recording and smaller rooms, through the dynamic 45-watt setting, to the full 90-watt output for maximum volume, headroom, and punch, the amplifier offers an enormous range. The four 6L6 power tubes can also be swapped out for EL34 tubes using the corresponding bias switch, further altering the power amp’s fundamental character.

Each of the three channels features largely independent gain, treble, mid, bass, presence, and master controls, allowing you to prepare and instantly recall three completely different basic tones. The classic tone controls are complemented by the famous Mesa Boogie 5-band graphic EQ, which allows for exceptionally precise adjustment of the midrange in particular. The built-in spring reverb is also channel-selectable and offers a wide range of settings, from subtle spatial depth to much more pronounced reverb sounds.

A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.

The built-in 12" Celestion Black Shadow MC-90 is perfectly matched to the character of the Mark V. With its high power handling, tight bass response, and clear, assertive mids, it accurately reproduces both dynamic clean tones and complex high-gain voicings. Despite its classic 1x12" combo format, the Mark V thus delivers a distinctly mature sound with enormous punch and headroom.
