Altec Lansing A7-500XX 1960s

Altec Lansing A7-500XX Voice of the Theater - mid 1960s pair

2 complete 1960s vintage Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater speaker systems. Technically the model # is A7-500XX.

These are unusual in that they have the highly desirable 515B low frequency driver rather than the typical 416A driver.

Components are -

2 - 515B 16Ω low frequency drivers

2 - 802D 16Ω high frequency drivers

2 - 511B high frequency horns

2 - N500G 16Ω crossovers

2 - 825 cabinets

1 - Peerless 15067 transformer

515B LF drivers in excellent condition. Cones and suspension fully intact.

Original black hammer tone finish. Tested and fully functional

802D HF drivers in excellent condition except each is missing one cable terminal. Replacement terminals are available on eBay for $15. each.

Correct 16Ω aluminum tangential diaphragms.

Original green hammer tone finish. Tested and fully functional.

N500G crossovers are in excellent condition.

Both have attenuator plate but missing attenuator knobs.

511B horns are in excellent condition.

Originally green hammer tone, mouths have been painted black.

825 cabinets are full plywood, no MDF.

Set up in the “portable” orientation with HF driver/horn located internally.

They’ve been painted black. An additional 1/2” sheet of plywood has been added to the bottom of each for reinforcement. Both show a good bit of wear on corners and edges but are solid and stable with no evidence of moisture.

One cabinet has an unconnected, untested Peerless 15067 transformer inside.

Being sold as a pair, complete, as is.
