Listed for sale is my rare vintage E.M. Penzel ~~29" viola bow. This is suitable for professional violinists who are looking for a richer, heavier tone.
Handcrafted by master bow maker Emil Max Penzel in southwestern Germany, this piece exemplifies the fine craftsmanship for which Penzel is renowned.
Penzel trained for ten years under the distinguished maker H.R. Pfretzschner in Markneukirchen, Saxony, before establishing his own workshop in the Vogtland village of Erlbach. His bows are celebrated for their responsiveness, balance, and powerful tonal quality. This bow is a superb example of E.M. Penzel’s work. Emil Max Penzel (1887–1953) remains one of the most respected German bow makers of his era. This bow was a part of my old violin setup back when I was actively playing.
This bow came from a 14" inch viola, which translates to a 4/4 size violin. It is a one piece professional-grade pernambuco stick, burgundy walnut finish, with a top grade nickel-silver mounted frog, with silver tip. Please fully understand the advantages and disadvantages when pairing with your violin setup.
