RARE-Vintage 1957/58 Paiste Stambul 24" Thin Ride Cymbal - 2475g - 12mm Player's Hole - Unpolished
Overview
For sale is an incredibly rare, first-generation 1957/1958 Paiste Stambul 24" Thin Ride weighing in at a crashable 2475 grams. Made in Switzerland during Paiste's iconic Nickel-Silver (NiS) era, this massive 24-inch ride is a true survivor. To preserve its unique acoustic properties, this cymbal has been left completely unpolished and as-found, showcasing an authentic, beautiful 70-year patina. The mounting hole has been cleanly widened to 12mm (approx 15/32") to accept modern cymbal stands. The vibrant bell tone is completely unaffected from this minor adjustment. I purchased this cymbal primarily for studio work. It produces a stunning track. As I am now semi-retired from gigging and recording and have significantly scaled back my musical commitments, this cymbal has become somewhat of a luxury and now spends most of it's time stored in a cymbal vault in my temperature and humidity controlled studio. It's time to hand it off to someone who will enjoy it as much or more than I have.
