RMI Electra-Piano & Harpsichord 300B Vintage Electric Piano – Project / Restoration

Vintage RMI Electra-Piano & Harpsichord Model 300B, made in the USA by Rocky Mount Instruments. A very cool early solid-state electric keyboard with its original folding legs.

This example is being sold “as is” — perfect for a project/restoration instrument. It powers on and all 61 keys produce sound. I believe approximately 3 of the 7 selectable voices are currently functioning, so it will require servicing to restore all of its functions.

The voice section includes:

• Piano
• Piano PP
• Harpsi
• Harpsi PP
• Lute
• Organ Mode
• Accenter

Despite its rough exterior appearance, the instrument is actually quite clean overall, particularly internally. The electronics and interior can be seen in the photos.

Cosmetic Condition

The exterior shows considerable wear from age and use. The original black covering/tolex is heavily torn and missing in several areas, particularly around the top and sides. Some of the white keys have yellowed with age.

It is also missing the RMI logo from the front panel and one black plastic trim/cover piece beside the voice selector switches.

Please examine all photos carefully for the cosmetic condition.

Functional Condition

The keyboard powers on and every key currently plays. Approximately 3 of the 7 voices appear to be functioning. No additional servicing or restoration has been performed, and due to the age of the instrument, it is being sold AS-IS as a partially functioning vintage electronic instrument/project.

Includes the original attached folding legs.
