The Apogee Jam X packs a studio-grade instrument preamp and 24-bit/96kHz PureDIGITAL conversion into a rugged metal enclosure small enough to clip to a strap or drop in a gig bag. Plug your guitar, bass, keyboard or any instrument with a pickup straight in and get pristine, low-noise recordings on Mac, Windows, iPhone or iPad without installing any drivers.

Built-in analog compression, adapted from Apogee's HypeMiC microphone circuit, gives you three selectable characters ranging from a gentle leveling touch to a hard-driving vintage stomp, so you can shape your tone before it ever hits your DAW. An onboard overdrive circuit, carried over from the Jam+, adds grit and sustain right at the source.

Blend mode lets you dial in a mix of your dry input and the processed signal for zero-latency monitoring through the 1/8-inch headphone output, so you can play and record in the pocket with no distracting delay. Connect via USB-C to a computer or iPad, or use a Lightning cable (sold separately) with an iPhone, and you are ready to record anywhere inspiration strikes.
