Epiphone Crestwood Custom 1962
This is an impressive example of the Epiphone Crestwood Custom, Epiphone solid-body guitars were manufactured with symmetrical double cutaway bodies and a Gibson-style 3-on-3 headstock. These Epiphone solid-body guitars are very rare but they never achieved the same level of prestige or professional acceptance as their Gibson counterparts, despite being produced in the same factory.
This particular Crestwood Custom was produced in 1962 at the kalamazoo facility Originally a cherry finish on both the body and neck But has faded into a very pleasing Natural Mahogany color. All hardware is nickel-plated and includes two Original PAF mini-humbucking pickups, original pots capacitors and wiring ,an early no-wire ABR-1 Tune-o-matic very rare "Shaved" bridge which allows the bridge to "rock" on the mounting posts keeping the guitar in tune whilst using the Torsion bar sprung Epiphone "Chromatic" Vibrola this is complete with a rosewood block insert. The pickguard is an unusual "half-clear" design with a white center and an Epiphone "E" logo. The knobs, switch, and Kluson tuners are identical to those found on the Gibson-branded SG. The tuners are replicas but the originals are included in the sale. The unbound rosewood 12" radius fingerboard boasts unique oval pearloid inlays that are specific to this model. The neck has a relatively flat profile typical of the era, At the time, this was the top-of-the-line Epiphone solid-body guitar, The guitar is exceptionally lightweight, and comfortable,
The guitar is all original throughout and comes with Later Gibson Gig Bag. I am classing this a "Player grade" due to two 1/4" dowels added to the heel by a doubtful previous owner thinking he was re-enforcing the neck joint ( totally not needed). and a very old shallow headstock crack (which never reached the headstock Holly veneer), repaired many years ago and structurally stronger than new. Clearly shown in the photos. priced for quick sale at ...
