Technics SL-1200MK2-M Quartz Direct-Drive Professional Turntable – U.S. 120V Model

The Technics SL-1200MK2 needs little introduction. Introduced in 1979, this quartz-controlled direct-drive turntable became an industry standard in clubs, radio stations, studios and serious home-audio systems. Its exceptionally durable construction, rapid start-up, stable platter speed and precise pitch control made it equally respected as a professional DJ deck and a high-quality listening turntable.

The precision S-shaped tonearm provides adjustable tracking force, anti-skating, damped cueing and adjustable arm height. Its detachable universal headshell fitting makes cartridge changes straightforward. A substantial aluminum die-cast chassis, rubber-composite base, damped platter and adjustable isolation feet provide the ruggedness and resistance to vibration for which the SL-1200 series is famous.

Tested in-store and plays great with no issues. Some cosmetic wear. Missing isolation mount on 1 foot. No cover; includes form-fit, rugged GenzBenz Road Case. Case is a little road worn. Oxidation on latches and corners, missing logo plate. Includes Leaf mat.

Description and Specs:

The Technics SL-1200MK2 is a quartz-controlled direct-drive manual turntable developed for exceptionally accurate speed regulation, rapid starting and dependable operation in demanding environments. Its high-torque brushless DC motor brings the platter to operating speed in approximately 0.7 second, while quartz-lock circuitry maintains precise rotation unaffected by normal stylus drag.

A continuously variable ±8% pitch-control fader, illuminated platter strobe, electronic braking and pop-up stylus illuminator provide immediate control for cueing and professional performance. The precision S-shaped tonearm incorporates static balance, adjustable tracking force, anti-skating, damped cueing and adjustable vertical height. Its heavy aluminum die-cast chassis, rubber-composite lower cabinet, damped platter and adjustable isolation feet help suppress vibration, resonance and acoustic feedback.

Technics describes the MK2 as its first hi-fi turntable designed with disco and club-DJ use specifically in mind. Feedback from working DJs led to the quartz-lock system, sliding pitch control and vibration-absorbing cabinet that established the model as a professional standard.
