Up for sale is the craziest Gibson Southern Jumbo I’ve ever seen!

The guitar was found in pieces and was put back together by a local luthier! So here’s a breakdown of what’s been done!

- New Brazilian Rosewood Bridge and Saddle

- New Bridge Plare

- New Braces (partial rebrace, many of the originals are still present and sturdy!)

- Glued cracks on the back

- New Buttons for the original 50’s No-Line tuners

- Non original truss rod cover

The body is battered and has multiple long cracks in it. The main one on the front was glued back long ago and it was a smarter job that was likely done at home. The original finish has zero signs of overspray, the finish looks to be all original which is a huge plus!

The interior of the guitar was filled with bondo and spray painted black for some reason back in the day. We were able to get it removed down to the original wood without taking too much material away, we did unfortunately lose the FON number and have to date it based on the fact that there is no crown which started in Late 53’ - Early 54’. See pictures!

The neck looks to have had a break at some point and it seems that the same person who glued to the top crack likely glued the neck crack. the neck is underwent but action is sitting at roughly 3.25 MM at the 12th fret. Saddle is fairly low too but there is still a decent amount of break angle to the strings.

Action is comfortable up until the 12th fret when it starts to get a bit higher than desired. A neck reset is in its future!

Original frets are present and all inlays are original!

The truss rod is almost maxed out and has a few threads showing

There are signs of glue residue on the back of the guitar where the back was glued back on. As well as a few slight gaps in the binding.

Will ship in generic HSC
