Behold, the extremely rare, elusive, and pretty cool, DBX 565 Dual-Band Optical Compressor. I find this unit shines on sources that require a balance of high and low end. Kick drum, snare, bass, vocals, toms for example. Controls are fairly intuitive, if you're used to using compression.
I believe DBX bought a company at one point, and the dbx 565 is a refaced one of their units (and also the dbx 555 maybe?). Perhaps worth a deep dive the history of this strange, rare dbx compressor.
Comes with the original box, and *some* documentation. Surely there is a digital copy of the manual out there if you'd like to find it.
