The tuner was used for several months in the 1990s, but it did not bring in many stations clearly so I stopped using the unit. No modifications were made to the unit. The external condition is in very good condition.
The unit should be considered a salvage unit for parts, but the EMM-83 magic eye tube (very rare and expensive) was good at the time I was using it, as were all the audio section tubes. I also replaced the tuning and volume control knobs with new knobs at the time I purchased it. This would be a prime unit to salvage, or for someone experienced in RF design to fix and realign. No special equipment is required for tuning, although an RF signal generator will make the process go faster. The FM-3 manual (including the build manual) is available free online at many sites so experienced persons should have no problem bringing this unit back up to specification.
I am looking to "sell" this unit for the minimum amount to someone who is both an audiophile enthusiast and has the capability to work on this unit, or salvage it for parts to fix an already-owned FM-3.
