Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo: Serviced, Phenomenal Condition
This RE-501 is in phenomenal shape overall, with only two small scuffs on the front tolex corners. It was recently serviced by local tech Gerry Dahl including new action parts/bearings felts, pinch roller, heads cleaned and de-magged, new tape, motor calibration, and has seen approximately 10 hours of use since, so it’s running clean and ready to work.
The RE-501 Chorus Echo is one of the most distinctive tape delay units ever made, representing the final evolution of Roland’s electro mechanical echo machines. It creates warm, organic echo by recording audio onto a moving loop of magnetic tape and playing it back through multiple heads before erasing it again, a sound that’s never been fully replicated digitally.
Beyond its signature delay, the RE-501 packs in analog chorus, spring reverb, and noise-reduction circuitry for a deep, lush sound that remains highly sought after in studios and live rigs. Its tape tank design reduces wear while allowing extended delay times, giving it smooth, stable operation and unmistakable vintage character.
