This 2011 Epiphone "John Lennon Inspired" Revolution Casino (Model E230TD) is a highly regarded, high-tier tribute guitar that captures the exact spirit and sonic profile of the iconic instrument John Lennon modified and played during The Beatles' late-era period.

The History Behind the "Revolution" Model
John Lennon originally purchased a sunburst 1965 Epiphone E230TD Casino. By 1968, following a suggestion from folk singer Donovan, Lennon stripped away the heavy sunburst factory finish down to the bare wood, believing it allowed the guitar to "breathe" and improve its acoustic tone. He also removed the pickguard, swapped the standard tuning pegs for gold Grover tuners, and left it in its iconic natural state. This is the exact stripped-down configuration replicated by the "Revolution" version, famously seen in the 1968 Revolution music video and the 1969 rooftop concert featured in the Let It Be film.

Specifications & Authentic Features

  • Pickups & Electronics: Features premium, dual USA-made Gibson P-90 dog-ear single-coil pickups. These deliver a distinct, highly responsive bite that spans from warm jazz tones to aggressive, raw rock-and-roll crunch.
  • Body Construction: A fully hollow, thinline archtop crafted from a 5-ply laminated maple/birch body with a maple top. Unlike semi-hollow guitars (like the Gibson ES-335), it contains no center block, which yields superb organic resonance but increases susceptibility to stage feedback at loud volumes.
  • Condition: This guitar is in Mint condition, it has spent most of its life in the hardshell case and played very rarely
  • Neck & Playability: Built with a comfortable, set mahogany neck utilizing a rounded mid-'60s "SlimTaper" profile, a rosewood fingerboard, a traditional 24.75" scale length, and a vintage-correct 1.62" nut width. The 22-fret neck meets the body at the 16th fret, maintaining period accuracy.
  • Hardware: Standard hardware includes a nickel-plated vintage trapeze tailpiece, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, and gold Grover "Revolution" tuning keys.
  • Visual Elements: It boasts a thin satin natural finish to mimic bare wood. It also includes historical details like parallelogram block fretboard inlays, a black ring around the toggle switch, and John Lennon's famous self-portrait sketch stamped subtly on the back of the headstock
  • Years Of Production: 2009-2014
