NOS Audio ELA M251E Modified Tube Microphone Clone

Very nice sounding mint ELA M 251 clone made by NOS Audio. This mic has been modified with a Cinemag 13114 transformer, a Luke Audio CK 12 style platinum sputtered capsule, a wet tantalum output capacitor, a NOS Sylvania 12AV7 (which is close to the 12AY7 that originally was in ELA-251E and this NOS 251 mic was biased for this exact tube) and a Mogami seven pin cable. These mods brought the sonic quality way up over the stock version! Airy with clear mids.

It is in new condition. It has never been used - only tested. It comes in a nice factory brief case with power supply, the Mogami cable and shock amount. I will also include the original 7 pin cable and a stock power cable. I spent $850 on the mic and modifications. I have too many mics right now and want to let this one go to someone that wants a low-priced enhanced large diaphragm tube mic to give their recordings a boost.

About the capsule:
“The Luke Audio LA-1C capsule is a modern redesign of the legendary CK12 edge terminated capsule found in the AKG C12.

Each capsule backplate is precision machined and hand lapped to extremely tight tolerances then sent to the Luke Audio “Clean Room” to build. In the “Clean Room” each diaphragm is made by stretching a piece of 1 Micron thin Mylar and coating it with a layer of pure Platinum via our state of the art Cressington sputter coater machine. Each capsule is meticulously assembled, tested through a vigorous and time consuming process, and fine tuned to ensure each capsule of a given type is exactly the same as every other one produced by Luke Audio. The Capsule is the most important part of the microphone. It is the head of the chain and the transducer that physically interacts and captures the movement of air from the source material. If the capsule is not the absolute best then you must compensate for the below par capsule in the construction of the circuitry or furthermore with EQ, therefore loosing some of the life and reality that is present with a “perfect capsule”.
