TEAC A-4070G Auto Reverse Reel to Reel Recorder - Serviced - Read Description

Up for sale is a TEAC A-4070G Auto Reverse Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder in exceptional cosmetic condition for its age. The cabinet, faceplate, controls, and overall appearance have been very well preserved, making this one of the nicest examples cosmetically.

The machine has been serviced and tested. Most transport functions operate properly; however, please read the following carefully before purchasing.

IMPORTANT OPERATIONAL CONDITION

The deck has one remaining transport issue affecting LEFT PLAY only.

• When LEFT PLAY is selected from the STOP position, the head-shift solenoid does not always lock completely on the first attempt.
• If this occurs, simply pressing STOP and then LEFT PLAY again immediately causes the transport to lock correctly and playback operates normally.
• Once engaged, playback is stable and sounds correct.
• RIGHT PLAY operates normally without this behavior.
• This issue is demonstrated clearly in the included video.

Because of this remaining issue, the recorder is being sold with this condition fully disclosed.

Service Performed

• Machine inspected and tested.
• Multiple components in the transport control circuit were replaced during troubleshooting.
• Transport functions have been checked.
• Cosmetic cleaning completed.

Despite extensive troubleshooting, the remaining LEFT PLAY engagement issue could not be completely eliminated.
