For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1961 Fender Twin.

The 6G8-A Twin is one of the classic early Fender amplifier circuits, delivering the big, articulate, three-dimensional sound associated with Fender’s blonde-era amplifiers. This example is particularly notable for retaining its original transformer set, including the original power transformer, choke, and Triad 45268 output transformer—a significant feature for vintage Fender collectors and players seeking an authentically preserved example.

The amplifier has recently received a thorough service from Jeff Bober, including replacement of the filter capacitors, repair and restoration of the non-functioning tremolo circuit, replacement of leaky phase-inverter and preamp plate capacitors, installation of a new line cord and tremolo footswitch jack, and repair of miscellaneous solder joints. Bober also installed and biased new output tubes, including a matched quad of Tung-Sol 6L6s and a Tung-Sol 12AX7.

The amplifier also received two new Jensen C12-N speakers along with new speaker wiring harnesses. The result is a vintage Fender Twin that has been brought up to reliable playing condition while retaining the character, feel, and important original components of the amplifier.

Cosmetically, the amp is in very good condition for its age, with the expected signs of nearly seven decades of use. The blonde tolex shows some discoloration throughout and there are a few tears in the grille cloth, but the overall presentation is generally clean. The cabinet itself is particularly nice, with no breaks, cracks, or evidence of previous structural repair, and the original tube chart is mostly intact.
