This very rare Regal soprano was built by Lyon & Healy in the 1920s.
Not your typical Regal, this ukulele is built of premium solid mahogany and features a double-bound top, single binding on the back, and the signature Lyon & Healy mustache bridge with bridge pins. Very cool!
This uke has its fair share of scuffs and scratches, but not bad for a centenarian. I took pains to include some of the most unflattering photos. The uke presents well in person, IMO.
There are two hairline cracks: one on the bass-side upper bout, near the fretboard, which has been glued and cleated- an excellent repair. The other is a hairline surface-level stress crack on the back at the waist (very common occurrence on ukes of a certain age), and I can see no evidence of it on the inside.
Most importantly, this ukulele plays great, with a very gratifying, punchy vintage tone and good volume. Get your 23-skidoo on with the top-of-the line offering from Regal in their hey-day!
Comes in a hard case that will provide good protection for travel or storage, but I wouldn't use it for toting around, as it has only one functioning latch.
Please reach out with any questions and let me know if you need any additional images. This is a sweet uke and someone will be very happy with this rarity.
Thanks for looking!
Ernie
