I am selling the SR-16 drum machine, in the original box, with the original power supply and all the original manuals/paperwork.
This is a classic drum machine made by Alesis, revolutionary at the time, with 16 bit stereo outputs, MIDI I/O, touch sensitive pads and automatic fills that could be triggered with a footswitch. It was very useful for performing, practicing or recording with this last feature. The 16 bit stereo drum sounds were considered top end at the time.
I bought this new in 1993 from Musician’s Friend and it has been used only in a studio setting. It is in pristine condition, but I am listing the condition as Very Good, because I replaced the 3V lithium battery that powers the static RAM (used to save your settings), thus it is not 100% original. I assumed a buyer would rather have something that worked, rather than something that was 100% original, but missing some operating features. For those that are buying or selling the SR16 it is safe to assume that the lithium coin cell is dead if the unit is more than 30 years old like this one. You can tell this because the volume will likely be very low when you use the touch pads or even if you use a MIDI controller because the attack envelope and volume settings (page 5 under Recording Setup) are stored in the static RAM which is powered by the lithium battery. This and other settings will be lost whenever you turn off the power if the battery is dead. You can reprogram all your settings every time you power it up, or replace the battery (which is soldered in as a welded assembly and non-trivial to replace).
