Offered here is a remarkably well-preserved 1951 Fender Deluxe “TV Front” tweed amplifier—an exceptionally desirable example from the earliest years of Fender production.

The cabinet retains its beautifully aged tweed covering, original grille cloth and early metal Fender badge. Seventy-five years of honest wear, light staining, edge wear and scattered marks give the amp tremendous character without diminishing its overall presentation. The leather handle is a later replacement handmade by Amish craftsmen to the same specs as the original. It is a $100 handle and not on of the cheap ones from Amazon.

The amplifier is fitted with a period-correct Jensen P12R 12-inch alnico speaker bearing EIA date code 220140, indicating Jensen manufacture during the 40th week of 1951—an excellent match for the amplifier’s production year and more than likely the original one.

The hand-wired circuit has been serviced as needed for dependable operation, including replaced capacitors and resistors and the installation of a grounded power cord. These updates are visible in the accompanying chassis photographs. The amp retains its wonderfully simple early Deluxe layout with two instrument channels, individual volume controls and a shared tone control.

The low-powered 5A3 circuit delivers everything players prize in an early tweed Deluxe: warm cleans at lower settings, rich harmonic texture and beautifully compressed overdrive as the volume is increased. It is exceptionally touch-sensitive and responds naturally to both picking dynamics and the guitar’s volume control. This is the unmistakable sound and feel that made the tweed Deluxe one of the most celebrated recording amplifiers ever produced.

A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine 1951 TV-front Fender Deluxe with attractive original patina and a date-matched Jensen speaker. It is equally compelling as a historic Fender collectible, studio amplifier or inspiring player’s amp.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. Due to the age and value of the amplifier, it will be professionally packed and fully insured for shipment.

I bought it from a harp player who got it from the original owner. It has very Gently used. Other than the replacement handle the only thing that detracts is a TX serial number etched into the top of the control panel for insurance purpose.

This is a killer unmolested player ready example. You won’t be disappointed!
