The Fender Custom Shop LTD Reverse ’50s Telecaster takes the classic Tele platform and turns several of its most familiar elements around. With a reverse-slanted bridge pickup, reversed control plate, and heavily aged Aged Black Relic finish, it offers a distinctive combination of vintage character and unconventional functionality.

Reverse-Wired, Reverse-Slanted Tone

The reversed bridge pickup angle changes the way each side of the pickup responds to the strings. The bass strings gain a tighter, more focused attack, while the treble strings take on a fuller and rounder character. The result is a bridge tone with less of the sharp “ice-pick” edge commonly associated with traditional Telecasters, while retaining the clarity and punch expected from the platform.

The hand-wound ’50-’51 Blackguard pickup set delivers classic Tele articulation, dynamics, and raw vintage character. The reversed control plate also places the volume control closer to the picking hand, making volume swells easier while moving the pickup selector farther away from the main picking area.

A Substantial Vintage-Style Neck

At the center of the guitar is a large ’57 Style Soft “V” rift-sawn maple neck. Measuring approximately .940" at the 1st fret and 1.000" at the 12th, it provides a substantial vintage feel with plenty of mass and resonance.

The 7.25"–9.5" compound fingerboard radius maintains a traditional feel in the lower positions while becoming flatter higher up the neck for easier bending and lead work. Relic treatment on the back of the neck gives it a worn-in, smooth feel reminiscent of a well-played vintage instrument.
