Ludwig Classic Maple Exotic Bubinga 14x5 Snare — Tube Lugs, Die-Cast Hoops, P86

Ludwig Classic Maple Exotic in Bubinga gloss, 14” x 5”, hand-built at Ludwig USA in Monroe, North Carolina. Serial MDC015552. Case included. Sticks NOT included.

7-ply cross-laminated North American maple shell with bubinga outer ply under high-gloss lacquer. 10 tube lugs, die-cast hoops top and bottom, P86 Millennium throw-off, brass keystone badge. The interior spec sticker is intact and pictured.

The P86 is the throw you want on a 5” drum. It’s a center-action drop throw with the etched scrollwork and a knurled tension knob — smoother and more repeatable than the P85, and sits low enough that it doesn’t sit above the rim the way a P85 does on a shallow shell. Nothing catching your hand on a cross-stick.

The bubinga figure is the reason to want this one. It’s a genuine wood veneer, not a wrap.

Tonally this is the Ludwig maple voice: clear and warm with real projection, and the 5” depth keeps it quick and articulate.

Currently set up with a fresh Ludwig batter, Ludwig Weather Master clear snare side, and Ludwig 20-strand wires.
