If you want a Mesa California Tweed that goes down to a true 1 watt of single-ended Class A tone, this is it.

The 1x10 format advantage:

The 10” cabinet makes this one of the most genuinely grab-and-go boutique tube amps ever made. At 26.4 lbs it’s light enough to carry in one hand, compact enough to fit in a car back seat, and delivers a focused, punchy, articulate tone that many players prefer over a 12” for recording and smaller venues. The 1x10 format has also been discontinued — this combination of compact size and full feature set is simply no longer available new. And because of the compact box size and modest shipping weight, even getting it to your door costs less than shipping a typical 1x12 combo — another practical advantage of the format.

The speaker — Jensen Blackbird Alnico 10”, made in Italy:

This is not a budget OEM speaker. The original Jensen factory in Chicago closed in 1975, and for decades the Jensen name was dormant. When Jensen was revived in the early 2000s, production was re-established in Italy with craftsmen who brought deep roots in European speaker manufacturing and serious attention to quality. Jensen’s Italian production quickly became associated with some of the finest boutique amp builders of the modern era — Bad Cat, Victoria, and others who specify Italian Jensens precisely because of their craftsmanship and tone.

The Blackbird’s AlNiCo magnet design delivers the natural, musical compression and warmth that ceramic magnet speakers simply cannot replicate — the same magnetic material used in the most revered vintage Jensen speakers of the 1950s and 60s that defined American electric guitar tone. It pairs with the 6V6 tweed circuit in a way that feels historically correct and tonally cohesive.
