The Casio AZ-1 is a vintage 1980s remote MIDI controller keyboard, commonly known as a "keytar," released in the mid-1980s to give keyboardists total stage mobility.
Key Specifications
- Keyboard: 41 full-size keys featuring synth action, velocity sensitivity, and rare channel aftertouch. Sound Generation: None; it contains no internal sounds and must be connected to an external MIDI synthesizer, sound module, or computer.
- Onboard Controls: Includes a pitch-bend wheel, two assignable control wheels, an assignable slider, and dedicated buttons for sustain, portamento, and solo switching. [1, 2]
- MIDI Channels: Transmits on selectable MIDI channels with modes for A, B, or simultaneous A+B transmission. Cable included.
- Power Source: Runs on either 6 AA batteries or an external power adapter - neither are included
