Up for sale is a beautiful and hard-to-find 2004 Gibson Custom Shop ’61 Les Paul SG Standard Reissue in Ebony.

The ’61 Reissue captures the early SG design from the period when Gibson still officially called the model the Les Paul. With its thin beveled mahogany body, fast-playing neck and classic dual-humbucker layout, this is a fantastic example of the early-2000s Gibson Custom Shop era.

The Ebony finish is particularly striking and is a much less commonly encountered look on these ’61-style Custom Shop SGs than the traditional Cherry finish.

Condition

This guitar is in Very Good condition and has been played and enjoyed over its 20+ year life.

There are various scratches, light dings and normal signs of handling throughout the instrument, with the most noticeable wear being scratching and buckle rash on the back of the body. The hardware has also developed some natural aging and patina.

I’ve tried to photograph the condition as clearly as possible, so please look through all of the photos for a detailed representation of the cosmetic wear.

Rather than detracting from the guitar, the wear gives this one the appearance of an instrument that has actually been played while still presenting beautifully.
