Heritage Johnny Smith Rose 2001 - Natural Gloss Lacquer

No. 6501. Includes original hardshell black Tolex Heritage logo case with case key, warranty card, hang tag & catalog. This 25 year old "time capsule" Heritage is right at "mint" condition. No smoke odors, no fret wear. Only has some scratching on some of the gold plated bits.  So wonderfully crafted in the historic Parsons St. shop in old Kalamazoo by the original Heritage guys. JOHNNY HAND SIGNED THE LABEL.

This Smith was a one-off "custom" order with a top mounted humbucker with a sole volume control on the guard. These typically had a floating pickup. The full size bucker is bigger, warmer and more adjustable. The bracing is "X" style.

The late Great Mr. Smith designed this signature model with the Heritage folks, and he hand signed the labels on some. Heritage would sometimes mail him a check along with labels & he’d sign them & send them back to Kalamazoo. JS did not sign the Gibson versions and he often spoke ill of them. He dubbed this model the “Rose” as a tribute to his Mom, and it has an Abalone… (actual real Abalone, not the Ab-Baloney so popular now)… Rose inlaid on the peghead and Abalone blocks on the African Ebony fingerboard. The beautiful natural was Johnny’s favorite finish and Heritage used real Nitro lacquer back then.
