• '62 Jazz-style stacked knob control plate with series/parallel switch — independent volume and tone for each pickup in both switch positions, giving you far more tonal range than the typical PJ's volume/volume/tone layout

That series/parallel switch is what really sets this bass apart. Switch disengaged, you get classic Fender tones. Engage it, and the tone shifts dark and woody... thick, with a growl that leans closer to a Gibson bass than Fender. With independent control over each pickup's volume and tone in either mode, you've got an incredibly versatile tonal palette in one bass.
