Here is an extremely rare 1981 Gibson Flying V in Bahama Blue, one of the coolest and hardest-to-find custom colors Gibson offered during the early '80s. This one also features the bound fingerboard, a detail that was largely specific to 1981 and one of the things collectors look for on these guitars.
Over the years, the clear coat has aged beautifully, giving the original Bahama Blue finish more of a green/teal appearance. It has an incredible vintage vibe and really sets this Flying V apart from the crowd.
The guitar appears to be 100% original aside from the strap buttons. It comes with two correct sets of knobs, including the factory-original amber speed knobs, which are included with the guitar.
Condition is Very Good overall with honest playwear throughout. There is some finish wear along the back edge, along with a few light dings and scratches here and there as shown in the photos. Small fissure of one of the tuner holes. It's not collector-grade, but that's part of what makes it so appealing—it's an exceptionally rare Flying V that you can actually enjoy playing instead of just looking at.
At only 6.3 lbs., it's remarkably lightweight, well-balanced, and a joy to play.
It comes complete with the original Gibson hardshell case as shown.
