I am offering a Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 Heritage Cherry Sunburst from 2004, a manufactured in Nashville (TN), USA, reissue model of the legendary ’60s Gibson Les Paul featuring a solid mahogany body (4.38kg total weight), arched plain-top maple top, set mahogany neck with 1960 Slim Taper neck profile, bound Indian rosewood fingerboard with aged trapezoidal Pearloid inlays, two warm-sounding Gibson 496R / 500T humbucker pickups, hand-wired electronics, Gibson Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar, and high-quality Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons in a brilliant Heritage Cherry Sunburst nitrocellulose finish with 1960 cream pickguard and cream bindings in excellent condition, including black Gibson hard shell case and professional setup with 10-46 Elixir Optiweb strings.
The Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 was introduced in the ’90s as a classic alternative to the Standard Les Paul. With its coveted slim neck and historically inspired specifications, the Les Paul Classic 1960 sold exceptionally well for nearly two decades before production was discontinued in 2008. According to some, this was allegedly also because the model line was competing with its Custom Shop sister model developed at the time, the Gibson 1960 Reissue Les Paul—though it was available for just under a quarter of the purchase price.
It’s therefore no surprise that its construction and appearance are strongly reminiscent of the iconic Les Paul designs of the early ’60s. Like the originals, this beautiful 2004 model features a solid mahogany body, which, with a total weight of 4.38kg, makes it one of the lighter models from that era and offers not only a naturally resonant tone that’s clearly audible but also quite comfortable playability. Combined with the arched maple top and the set mahogany neck, the guitar delivers the legendary Les Paul tone: warm, assertive, and rich in sustain.
Plugged into an amp, the Gibson 496R humbucker at the neck produces a warm, powerful tone with singing mids and enough definition for clear leads and full rhythm sounds. The ceramic Gibson 500T humbucker at the bridge is one of Gibson’s hottest classic humbuckers, offering high output, tight bass, and an aggressive, assertive character. This combination offers enormous potential, particularly for classic rock, blues rock, or hard rock, while remaining highly versatile thanks to the classic Les Paul wiring with two volume and two tone controls.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The slim 1960 Slim Taper neck profile fits comfortably in the hand and, together with the classic 12-inch fingerboard radius and 22 medium frets, offers a smooth playing feel—especially in the higher registers.
