These are a pair of 26” calfskin drum heads that came off a 1946 “Ludwig & Ludwig” bass drum with the Elkhart, Indiana badge. Last photo is the date stamp from inside the shell.
To my eye they appear to be in great shape for their age - they were seated down and tuned fine, I’m just reworking the drum with modern heads and won’t need to keep these. Some areas are worn or stretched thin and are slightly translucent, but I don’t see any cracks, tearing, or warping anywhere. Skin patterns are plainly visible. Featuring Americana art from a couple of groups that I don’t know anything about - no idea if that can be cleaned up or removed but I will leave that to the next owner’s preference.
They literally don’t make them like this any more and I know some people really want these so I thought I should get them up on here to rehome them.
I am not an expert or drum dealer so I‘ll start with my best guess at a reasonable/low price based on a couple other listings I’ve found. Feel free to make an offer, especially if you can swing local pickup.
Listing is sold AS IS with no returns - shipping and materials will be expensive and we won’t want to deal with that. Please reach out with any questions or concerns BEFORE sending an offer or purchasing. Thanks for looking!
