Own a piece of drum history.
For your consideration: a mid-1960s Rogers 5x14 wood-shell Dyna-Sonic in White Marine Pearl. Serial 22012.
In Japanese culture, kintsugi is the art of taking something that is broken and fixing it, incorporating the broken parts into the beautiful item and not hiding what was broken or its history. An item is beautiful because of its history and its imperfections.
This drum came out of Louisiana and was in need of care and attention. It was completely disassembled: the wrap was wet-sanded and buffed, and all of the chrome was cleaned, buffed and hand polished. Please note the cracks in the wrap on the panels above the butt plate. Three of the lugs were replaced with period-correct beavertail lugs. This drum has all the original fasteners and washers. The snare wires have been replaced with replica Puresound wires.
Rogers introduced the Dyna-Sonic in 1962 as its top professional snare, and it built its name on one idea: a floating snare frame that carries the wires on their own cradle instead of pressing them into the bottom head. That is what lets a Dyna-Sonic go from a whisper to a roar, stay sensitive, and never choke — and it is why players and collectors still seek them out. Buddy Rich, Rogers' biggest name, played one, and it is often said the drum was built around exactly what he wanted from a snare; Louie Bellson carried one too. These were made in the USA in both wood and chrome-over-brass shells
Your instrument doesn't have to be perfect to make great music — most of the things that make music great nearly never are.
This is a true piece of American history.
