Mr. Lawing (stage name “Tramp”—see ) bought this Loar-era mandolin when it had just turned 100 years old. He used it regularly in performance until his death in 2025.
David W Harvey of Hendersonville TN, a master luthier for Gibson, restored and upgraded this mandolin before selling it to Mr. Lawing in September 2023 (see photo of detailed invoice). The finish shows some minor cracks and wear from use (see photos). A member of the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra recently tested it and found no playability concerns. It offers a crisp attack and a mellow sustain.
The mandolin comes with a plush, hardshell case with hygrometer, a Levy strap, a Peterson tuner, extra strings, and other accessories (see photos). The bottom strap post is also a phono jack (see photos) to connect the instrument to your external amplifier. The mandolin and accessory package sell “As is”.
