Gibson Explorer 1994 Centennial Guitar of the Month Antique Gold
In 1994 to celebrate their 100 Year Centennial Anniversary Gibson produced a Guitar of the Month Series considered by Gibson as investment grade and built in appreciation of the art of guitar. This instrument has been in a collection since day one. 1958 Reissue Gibson Explorer in Antique Gold, one of only 100 made and # 43 within the series. The body is Mahogany with a one piece Mahogany neck. The serial number stamped in black ink on rear of the headstock is 1937_ 6. Front of the headstock is black with a gold “100 Year” engraved bell truss rod cover, “Gibson” in Mother-of-Pearl with the “i” dotted with a diamond, and gold tuners with “Gibson” on each. Bound 22 fret Rosewood fingerboard with 1894- 100th-1994 Anniversary in Mother-of-Pearl @ the 12th, MOP dots elsewhere. The scale length is 24 3/4" and a nut width of 1 11/16". Two goldplated humbucker pickups with gold surround rings, a goldplated Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, and a gold tailpiece with serial # 1937 in sterling silver; the #1 containing 6 diamonds. Single ply faux MOP pickguard with the 100th Anniversary Emblem in Gold stamp. Goldplated 3-way switch. The 3 skirted control knobs, 2- volume 1-tone are 22K goldplated with “Gibson 100” on the tops and each having a diamond as a reference pointer. The clear plastic protective cover is still on the rear control cavity cover-collected. The original Leather covered Case with gold hardware and 100th Anniversary Emblem is like new.
Candy Included: Certificate of Authenticity with Gold Seal 100th Anniversary Envelope, Gold embroidery 100 yr. 1894-1994 Gibson Bag, The upper portion of a congratulatory document from Gibson on investing in a Gibson Centennial Guitar. The lower half was to be returned to receive the included Gold Signet Collectors Ring featuring the Gibson Centennial Anniversary Logo-with original ring box/ white cardboard box. Also includes two blue ribbons with the 100yr Anniversary Logo in gold, the Black Leather padded strap is a Levy’s DM1PDX with the Gibson 100 Yr. logo in gold, and a 2 fl oz bottle of leather conditioner. Not shown in the pics are the unfilled Gibson Gold Warranty Pamphlet and the “Only a Gibson is Good Enough, Gibson USA” 2 ½ x 5” sticker. Again, Collected, Mint, As New, including the Gold Hardware proving it has been properly kept.
