Zildjian FX Raw Crash Large Bell FXRCLG - New Floor Display
Weight 2550 grams
The Zildjian FX Raw Crash Large Bell (model FXRCLG) is one of Zildjian's most unconventional effect cymbals. Developed through the company's Concept Shop, it is designed to function as both a fast, dry crash and an alternative ride cymbal with a pronounced bell. Unlike traditional crashes, every Raw Crash is intentionally irregular, so no two sound exactly alike.
Key features
- Model: FXRCLG
- Series: Zildjian FX
- Bell: Large bell
- Material: Zildjian B20 bronze alloy
- Shape: Non-circular, untrimmed edge
- Construction: Not hammered, not lathed, and not trimmed into a perfect circle
- Diameter: Varies from cymbal to cymbal, typically around 20–24 inches due to its irregular shape.
Sound characteristics
The Large Bell version produces:
- A short, explosive crash with a quick decay
- Very dry, earthy tone with minimal wash
- A louder, more defined bell than the Small Bell version
- Excellent stick definition, making it suitable as a dry ride
- Fast response that doesn't overwhelm a mix.
Appearance
The Raw Crash has a distinctive industrial look:
- Raw, unfinished bronze surface
- Uneven outline and coarse edge
- Visible heat marks, streaks, scratches, and chalk marks from manufacturing
- Each cymbal is visually unique, and these cosmetic marks are normal and do not affect durability or sound.
Best suited for
- Rock
- Alternative
- Indie
- Funk
- Experimental music
- Studio work requiring dry, controlled cymbal sounds
It's especially popular with drummers looking for a cymbal that can serve as both a crash and a dry, articulate ride.
If you're comparing it to the FXRCSM Small Bell Raw Crash, the primary difference is that the Large Bell version is more open-sounding, louder at the bell, and slightly more versatile as a ride, while the Small Bell version is drier, more controlled, and has less bell projection
