Offered here is a beautiful older Jacobus Stainer-style violin, complete with bow and fitted case.

The interior paper label reads:

“Jacobus Stainer in Absam
prope Oenipontum
1635”

The violin features a warm amber-brown finish, attractive figured maple back and sides, traditional Stainer-style construction and wonderful natural character from years of use. The back displays especially attractive flame and movement in the maple.

The instrument is currently set up with an ebony fingerboard, dark tuning pegs and a tailpiece equipped with four fine tuners. It includes the bow and burgundy-lined fitted case shown in the photographs.

Condition

This is an older instrument and shows age-appropriate wear, including surface marks, scratches, edge wear and finish variation. Please carefully review all photographs, as they are an important part of the description.

The violin has not been formally authenticated or professionally appraised. It is being offered as an antique Stainer-style violin bearing a Jacobus Stainer label, not as a verified instrument personally made by Jacob Stainer in 1635.
